  1. When I lived in the U. K, 1966-1977, I read the hardback; I am almost certain that the first British paperback of Ringworld had the ring gainst a blue-sky background, with the living surfaces on the outside of the ring; I don't remember where a sun might have been. Whether anyone can still find a copy, I don't know.

    I'll see if I can track down a copy of the first UK paperback.

    But mistakes relating to the Ringworld are a tradition... didn't Niven admit that in the first editions of the book the Ringworld was rotating the wrong way?
