George Bass

Another artist whom I can find nothing about. Like Barcilon below, George Bass contributed to Swift Annual 1963 (1962) only. This example illustrates the story 'Walter Wins a Sword' by John Baldwinson, set in the days of Good Queen Bess.

  1. Hi Steve, I bought an ink drawing by this artist last year and helpfully it had a draft letter with a cv in it holding the drawing in place. He trained at the Royal college of art, graduating in 1948 and then worked as a freelance illustrator and artist mainly for advertising agencies. I hope this is of interest, Alison

  2. It certainly is... does the CV offer any more information, like, what kind of advertising he did? What agencies he worked for, etc. If there's too much for a comment, drop me a line direct (my e-mail address is top left, just below the photo).
