First published as part of Lion comic in 1966, Trelawny of the Guards was one of the very first British War Comics with a focus on depicting a realistic and accurate perspective on life at war. Sixty years on, The Treasury of British Comics are proud to release a new collection of the entire 1966 run of the series, which features amazing black and white artwork from legendary Spanish artist Victor de la Fuente.

Three years after Sergeant Trelawny joined the Grenadier Guards the scarlet tunic of peacetime was packed away and for seven more years the guardsman’s uniform was kaki battledress. Through those bitter years of the Second World War, Sergeant Trelawny led, mastered and fought beside the toughest, proudest soldiers in the British Army.

This is Trelawny’s story…

A lost classic, Trelawny is illustrated by Victor de la Fuente, regarded as one of the greatest Spanish artists of the 20th Century. Although famous for his work on war, western and fantasy comics, he also contributed to girls’ comics, drawing the serial A New Kind of Lovin’ for Valentine. He worked for the original Eagle comic in the early 1960s, drawing Blackbow the Cheyenne, and worked on several stories for Fleetway’s War Picture Library comic and the Battle Picture Library comic.

Celebrating sixty years since the landmark serial first started in Lion, Trelawny of the Guards is now available in standard or webshop-exclusive editions via The Treasury of British Comics webshop!

The latest in Rebellion’s Apex Edition oversized hardcover art books series will feature early work from one of Britain’s most distinctive comic artists, known the world over thanks to his partnership with Alan Moore on the groundbreaking superhero series Watchmen.

With his work appearing from the very first issue of 2000 AD, Gibbons quickly established himself as a pre-eminent talent — his clean lines, bold characters, eye for detail, and inventive imagination winning over a generation of readers and marking him out for greatness.

Due for publication on 11th November 2026, The 2000 AD Art of Dave Gibbons: Apex Edition will give readers a unique insight into this pivotal moment in Gibbons’ career, from establishing himself as the definitive artist on future sports strip Harlem Heroes and revamping the archetypal British comic character Dan Dare, to co-creating the genetically-modified sci-fi warrior Rogue Trooper — the subject of a forthcoming movie written and directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code).

Lovingly put together by Rebellion’s experienced reprographics and editorial teams, this new 128-page collection will presents Gibbons’ work at its true size — all pages will be newly-scanned at high resolution from the original artwork, giving readers an unprecedented up-close look at the work of a comics master.

Measuring 481mm × 371 mm, this Apex Edition will feature work from Gibbons’ runs on Harlem Heroes and Dan Dare alongside pages from robot rescue squad series Ro-Busters, its anarchic successor ABC Warriors, Judge Dredd, and Rogue Trooper.

It will also include many pages from his first collaborations at 2000 AD with writer Alan Moore, including the time-travel short story ‘Chrono-Cops’. Following their work on 2000 AD, the pair would go on to redefine the superhero genre with their stunning work — alongside fellow 2000 AD alumni colourist John Higgins — on the twelve-issue 1986 series Watchmen for DC Comics, which remains one of the best-known and best-selling graphic novels of all time.

The 2000 AD Art of Dave Gibbons: Apex Edition (ISBN: 978-1-83786-761-5) is out on 11th November 2026. The standard edition will be available from all good comic book stores and the 2000 AD webshop at 2000AD.com, while a special, limited edition slipcase edition will be available exclusively from the 2000 AD webshop.

Inside the latest 2000 AD, Prog 2487, the second Bumper Prog of the year, you can see Warwick Fraser-Coombe’s latest multimedia exploration of the iconic characters from the history of the Galaxy’s Greatest. It’s a rather stunning rendering of everyone’s favourite Celtic barbarian, Sláine mac Roth…

In 1978, 2000 AD launched a weekly sister comic aimed at an older audience and boasting higher production values – its name was Starlord.

A plethora of the best comics writers and artists in the UK ensured the new series was a success. These included 2000 AD’s creator, Pat Mills; co-creators of Judge Dredd, John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra; future Watchmen artist, Dave Gibbons; legendary 2000 AD and Batman writer, Alan Grant; and The Ballad of Halo Jones co-creator, Ian Gibson.

Despite outselling 2000 AD, it was merged into the galaxy’s greatest comic after just 22 issues. Against the policy of the time, 2000 AD was the title that was kept. But the legacy of Starlord lives on with its standout strips Strontium Dog and Ro-Busters (a fore-runner of A.B.C Warriors) occupying a place in the hearts of many comic readers to this day.

This book collects Starlord starzines 1-12 and the Starlord Summer Special.

Charley's War began serialisation in Battle in 1979, and as written by Pat Mills it is one of the greatest strips in the history of British comics, a serious look at how the First World War affected Britain's working class. Complementing the story was the artwork of Joe Colquhoun, fresh off the immensely popular Johnny Red, Colquhoun pushed himself even further detailing the wartime travails of Charley Bourne, producing stunning artwork each and every week.

The first teaser trailer for the forthcoming Rogue Trooper movie was revealed today as part of a Deadline interview with filmmaker Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code, Mute, Warcraft).

The teaser was released alongside 4 new stills taken from Rogue Trooper, which is due for release later this year. You can watch the teaser trailer below.

Rogue Trooper is a fully animated science fiction feature from Rebellion and Liberty Films. Taken from 2000 AD, the legendary British comic book, which is also home to Judge Dredd, Rogue Trooper was co-created by artist Dave Gibbons (Watchmen, Kingsman) and Gerry Finley-Day and has been adapted for the screen by Duncan Jones, who tells Deadline: 

"We began with storyboards and little videos of me and my editor, Barrett Heathcote, running around the garden reenacting bits and then sticking it all together and editing a film together, then making an animatic with the Unreal Engine, which was something we used as part of the process. But we didn’t know where we were going. We had this wonderful artist who actually we eventually requested become our production designer, Stephen Trumble, and he was giving us all of this fantastic concept artwork as we were going along. And we just kept on nudging it along, and changing things as we went, until we found something that holistically worked for the whole movie." Acclaimed by readers since it first debuted in Judge Dredd Megazine 424 back in 2020, Megatropolis is an art-deco futurist noir series set in an alternative universe which reimagines the core elements of Mega-City One for a wholly new vision of Judge Dredd’s world. Created by Ken Niemand and artist Dave Taylor, the series has been one of the Megazine’s most popular stories since it debuted, and served as a stunning spotlight for Taylor’s astounding artistry.

With Dave Taylor sadly passing away in 2025, midway through completing another incredible run on the series, we didn’t want for the story to remain incomplete, as readers deserved the opportunity to see the entire series, including Taylor’s work – and so Rebellion are proud to announce that artist Chris Weston will be joining Megatropolis with April’s issue 491, ensuring that the second storyline will run through until its planned conclusion later this year.

For Weston, this is a chance to pay tribute to a friend and colleague, and in speaking to 2000 AD about the news he told us “like everyone else, I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of ​Dave Taylor. I was instantly consumed with regret that I didn’t spend more time hanging out with him as I always found him great company. He had the gift of the gab and would have an amusing take on all manner of topics: from politics to UFOs. Mostly we talked about our shared love of the art of Jean “Moebius” Giraud. Dave got to spend time working with Moebius and the  Incal and Blueberry maestro had an undeniable influence on his work.”
