John Burns's The Tripods

The recent death of Sam Youd (a.k.a. John Christopher, scroll down for some further details), prompted me to dig out some scans of the comic strip version of his classic trilogy The Tripods that appeared in BEEB back in the mid-1980s. Another example of why John M. Burns is the finest comic strip artist of his generation.

  2. Hi Ade,

They appeared in BEEB, a short-lived Look-In clone published by Polystyle in 1985 based around programmes on the BBC. It folded very suddenly after twenty issues without resolving any of the serials. A bit like the Tripods TV series, which ended on a cliffhanger, never to return.

  3. Sorry , I now see you mentioned it in your post. Never heard of the mag but was a big Look-In devotee - I thought the layout looked similar. Must investigate further...

    Thanks again.
