A few miles off the British coast, a lone Spitfire limps home after a sortie over France. For it is damaged, and almost out of fuel. Suddenly, German fighters swoop down to attack, forming a loose, line-ahead formation. There is a little cloud below the desperate Briton – but not enough for concealment.
