Although I try to stick exclusively to older British comics here in Bear Alley. Scroll down and you'll find I've mentioned a few new books that might seem to stretch the rules, but the coverage of Classical Comics has always been prompted by the artists they use: John M. Burns is now the elder statesman of British comics, with a professional career of 55 years under his belt—and long may he reign! Even Jon Haward, who I still think of as a newcomer, I first spotted working for Harrier Comics back in 1987.
One of the handful of new books I'm really looking forward to in the next few months is by a real newcomer, although even he's been around for over a decade. Garen's Ewing's The Rainbow Orchid, volume 1 of the adventures of Julius Chancer, is due out in August. The book is already listed at Amazon at the knock-down £6.29. Garen has just posted the cover (above) from which you can see that the book is a Tintin-style adventure yarn. If you've followed the story as it has unfolded online, you'll need no prompting to pick up the book. If you've not seen it, take a look, then go order a copy of the book.
