Here's a little cover gallery celebrating the release of Alex Stewart's new novel. I'm predisposed towards it as Alex is a friend, but other, unbiased opinion is also available—and, to quote Paul Di Filippo, "Although I have made a lot of comparisons here to old-school SF, Stewart’s book does not feel like a pastiche or homage, is not creaky nor fusty. Perhaps not as quite as cutting-edge hip as Corey’s Expanse series, it nonetheless emerges authentically from the current moment in both the culture and the genre, representing the best of what ambitious adventure SF has always done and can plainly continue to do."

For years, Alex has been writing superb books for the Warhammer 40,000 universe, having created the character Ciaphas Cain in the early 2000s. His earlier novels have all appeared under the pen-name Sandy Mitchell, first used on a novelisation for the BUGS TV series which he was then working on under his real name.
