I love John Bull's painted covers - though I think the little 'cover stories' printed inside have to be taken with a pinch of salt.
It really is a shame comics didn't treat their artists with the same respect that the adult magazines did. One example is a 1956 issue of Everybody's I recently picked up with a 2-page, illustrated article on Boys' World's cartoonist Roland Fiddy.
