C. M. Nelson

Cholmondeley Matthew Nelson was an author whose He Went With Wellington (1962) was reprinted as an abridged serial in Look and Learn in 1962 under the title "A Locket To Adventure". The book, about a young boy who sails to Portugal with the English army under General Wellesley to fight against Napoleon, was part of a series of historical stories for boys which included He Went With Nelson (1960) and He Went With Simon Bolivar (1963).

Nelson, born in Fulham on 24 July 1903, had earlier written Jungletown Tales (1943), More Jungletown Tales (1944), The Jolly Picnic with Walter Trier (1944). He later moved to America where he died in Los Angeles on 6 February 1991.
