    A.R.Whitear was actually Albert Richard Whitear my late grandfather. He was a successful artist from the 1930s until his death in 1989.

    In addition to book illustration he also created the historical tableaux used to decorate railway carriages after the war. His successful commercial work also his finer art career.

    My dad is still around so if you have any questions about Albert's work on Swift and other comics, I can ask him on your behalf.

    1. The name "WHITEAR" is credited to the jacket design for the first hardcover edition of Elizabeth Goudge's 1963 novel "The Scent of Water". Is the actual cover-art by A.R. Whitear?
