I remember Peter Haining very well and often shared a lunchtime pint with him in Barney's, our lovely hostelry on Fetter Lane. I was shocked at his sudden death in 2007. His very first book was a guide to the Channel Islands which he produced in three weeks from scratch. Far away from anything he produced after that.
